The first thing we need to do is find out what virus you have. a) do you know what virus you have? b) what is the subject of the e-mail it is sending out? c) what is the name and extension (eg. attachment.vbs) of the attachment in the e-mail being sent out?

What anti-virus software are you using, and when was it last updated?  Hopefully if new enough, it will have told you the name of the virus.

Remember, many virus problems can not be sorted out if you contract the virus before using the anti-virus software.  In these cases, a manual removal with a software tool (often downloadable from your anti-virus software suppliers website) is the best way.

Try to answer the above questions, and I'll see what I can do to help. Gleam

It sounds like "Sobig.F"

It might not be your computer that is sending out e-mails.

It could be sent from anyone's computer, that has your address in their address book.

The best thing to do is to make sure your friends have virus checkers.

Certainly Sobig.F is the only virus I could find using the attachments 'Your Details' and  'That Movie'.  As Stephen said there is a good chance that it is not you that has the virus, unless you can see the e-mail physically leaving your computer.  As a precaution, it would be a good idea to download the Symantec removal tool for the Sobig.F virus and run it on your machine:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sobig.f@mm.removal.tool.html

details on it's use can be found at Symentec's website for the virus at
