this is an odd one.  spamassassin just identified a bigfoot's anti-spam newsletter as spam.

Is there any way to do ANYTHING worth while with Spam Assassin... like, actually blocking the spam before it hits your in-box? I mean, seriously, what good is a utility that says, "Yes, this e-mail is definitely, without question, 100% certainly spam!!!", and then does nothing about it.

And the "Block E-Mail" filters in the Control Panel are completely useless as well. They simply DO NOT work.

Apart from creating a new e-mail address and vaporizing the old one, is there any way to prevent and block spam from a server level at Lunar Pages?

The spamassassin filter doesn't delete spam because it could delete e-mails which look like spam, but actually aren't spam.

If you like, you can set up a filter in your e-mail program to automatically delete e-mails (from the server) which spamassissin has marked as being spam.

As for the filters not working, they should be, obviously, but if you are having difficulties, please e-mail support@lunarpages.com , they will be able to investigate the problem for you.

Those interested in setting up SA to display the SPAM tag, see this thread

http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5176

I used that config utility and it works great, I have it set to spag ID's as  SPAM, and set a filter to move to a special folter in outlook express.  Haven't had one false positive yet either.
