Thank you for this post. It's very useful because I seem to have it. I use Wordpress and need to upgrade it to 2.8.2 but now I can't log on as admin or do the upgrade, so I am worried that my blog is a complete loss.

Hi Gable, welcome to the forums.  I went ahead and split off your original reply and made a new thread for you.  When you upgraded, did you:

Download the new version and upgrade manually?

Use Fantastico within cPanel?

Use the Built in Upgrader from within WordPress?

Let us know, and that should help us out with troubleshooting your problems.  Thanks!

It is possible through cPanel to reset the password, though it takes a bit of fiddling. See http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2009/02/06/the-agony-of-the-lost-wordpress-password/
Did you try using the "forgot my password" link to email  you? Does the site still come up fine?
