Holy, it's back after I post on the forum.

The forum is much more powerful than the ticket system.

Hi Cero,

I am glad to hear that your VPS got back. This forum is not an official support, so I would not expect a quick help on requests put in here. Can you please pm me with the time when you were in the chat and nobody replied to you and we will investigate why that happened.

Thank you.

Sorry, I don't know how to PM you. I click your name to your profile but no PM button there. I can't find PM link in my profile left side bar. There is one link called PM option but that's for ignorelist setup.

I believe the server is down around lunch time. When you ping the IP, it's time out. It's working in the morning. For it's my first day sign up, I didn't migrate my sites to it and I didn't pay much attention then went out. When I came back at 4:30PM, the server was still down.

I went to dedicatedchat at that time. I sent the request, the system show 5 requests in queue. After 1 or 2 minutes, the system redirect me a message said you should sent the request to helpdesk. I clicked that button and a request sent to helpdesk at May 5th 2007 04:38:11. Because it's my first time to sent request to helpdesk, the desk setup a new account for me immediately.

After waiting for 2 hours, I didn't get any reply from helpdesk then I came here and post it.

However when I go back to helpdesk right after the post, Vlad Panainte did reply me on May 5th 2007 06:32:11 and made the server up.

It's about 2 hours from my first ticket to helpdesk. I still felt comfortable and understood for it's weekend time.

I hope it can be improved by Lunarpages that the server can be up within 1 hour after the ticket has been submitted.  However, I understood that it may take 2 hours or more during the weekend.

I have a question here:

When the server is down or I need your help to reboot my VPS in the future, shall I call the helpline or submit ticket for emergency case? Because some of my sites may be sensitive during the week days.

Thanks.

Hi Cero,

Thank you for providing us with details about the problem you had. This accident will be reviewed.

As for your question, if your VPS is down, you can always try to restart it using Virtuozzo control panel at https://your.vps.ip.address:4643. The login details are the same as the admin login details for Plesk. If this does not help, the preferred way would be to contact sysadmins via dedicated@lunarpages.com. The next step would be to send a ticket to the helpdesk, but replies on tikets during weekends can be delayed as you noted that correctly.

If VPS uptime is critical for your business, I would like to mention our managed addon which  includes 24/7 monitoring of your server so that we can restart services or the server if it stops responding.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.  Very Happy

Yesterday I got the same problem. When I try to reboot my VPS (just test), the IP became un-pingable after I click the reboot button. I went to dedicatedchat and sysadmin solved the problem very quickly.

I then asked the reason, because I recall I did try to reboot my VPS last weekend before the first downtime. The answer is the IP 74.50.2.98 is not properly reassigned to my VPS after the reboot. So if this problem happens next time, I won't be able to use Virtuozzo panel because the IP will still be unaccessible.

You are right. Once I migrate some of my sensitive clients to here, I will consider the managed addon later. I am not a picky person, but someone do.  Happy Happy Joy Joy

The IP unaccessible really hurt a bit for the private DNS sit on it and do Mail server. Most people don't care about web but emails.

Anyway, thanks for the help and useful comments, really appreciate.  Happy Happy Joy Joy

The IP can get incorrectly assigned only on boot and this does not happen each time when you reboot your VPS. So if your VPS stopped accepting connections at some point and was not rebooted, there should be another reason for that. Virtuozzo developers are aware of the incorrect IP binding problem and, hopefully, it will be fixed in the next releases.

Mail server always try to resend email multiple times if recipient's side appears to be down, so it is incredible to lost email due to connections problems unless your mail server has been down within 2 weeks.
