Hello,

We are new to LunarPages and are in the process of transferring two websites from our previous host. Both are e-commerce websites that require their own IP unique addresses for SSL Certificates.

We purchased an additional IP address to host on our VPS account but we are confused with regards to setting it up. We have already read the tutorials and understand where to go to set it up. The confusion begins after we do this process - it appears that from the backend there is no actual difference between the IP addresses. In other words, if we FTP into each on seperate occassions they are absolutely identical and we can see all of the files for each domain the IP address is for both times.

Is it the case that the additional IP addresses that are added to the VPS account can be used for purposes such as for the SSL certificates, but in the end they are somewhat virtual and connected to the same account and so this is the reason they appear to not be seperated to us on the backend?

Add to this confusion the fact that due to similar spelling in the domain names, there seems to have been a mistake on LunarPages part in the initial setup of the two domain names with their IP addresses and so now the two are mixed up each connecting to the other... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Yusuf,

The IPs are rather real, but they are assigned to the same server and you access the same server regardless of which IP you are using.

Can you please provide more details on the confusion with the domain names as it is not clear what gets mixed up with connections to them?
