I thought I would post this here to see if anyone can help before submitting a support ticket....

There is some sort of hourly cron job that is running on my VPS at 36 minutes after every hour. As part of that job, it sends an email notification. The problems is that this email just sits in the mail queue and never goes anywhere. Here the email info from the mail queue.

SUBJECT: Cron <root@vps> run-parts /etc/cron.hourly
SENDER: anonymous@vps11.lunarpages.com
RECIPIENTS: root@vps11.lunarpages.com

So what is this cron job and how do I stop it? Is it stuck in the mail queue because the recipient address does not exist? Anyone have a clue as to what is going on here?

Thanks!

Hi,

The review of the emails from cron which stuck in queue would give you the best idea which cron job generates them and how to fix that.

That's true, the email to the root might stuck due to non-existing destination mail box and you could setup a forward from the root@ to one of the existing mail addresses to be able to receive system notifications from the server.
