Guys I'm trying to get my nameserver setup at my registar but it's telling me the nameserver you gave me isn't valid.

"NameServer ns1.scdominion.com is not a valid Nameserver"

Also, shouldn't I have 2 nameservers?

FYI I tried both the name and IP you sent me.

Ok now that I have a little more time to read it looks like there is an extra step in registering my nameserver before I try to tie it to the domain. Now I just need to find out how to do that. I use: expertsrs.com.

For anyone who uses expertsrs.com and runs into the same problem I had, first you must click "Manage Child Name Servers" and add the nameserver and IP that Lunar has given you. After that you can change the name server for your domain.

Hi nbtc971,

Thanks for sharing your experience with registering nameservers through expertsrs.com. I will give a link to this post from the general post about registering private nameservers - http://www.lunarforums.com/index.php/topic,27720.0.html.

Hopefully it will help someone.

On a side note, you guys only sent me 1 nameserver to register.. is that normal? I've never used less than two in the past? Also i'm assuming it could take up to 72 hours for my nameserver info to propagate?

And one more question, does the backup utility in Plesk backup any mysql databases? This is all it says:

VPS backup stores all VPS data, including system and user files.

Your VPS server comes with 1 IP address by default and thus you need to register the both nameservers with the same IP, if your domain registrar requires at least two nameservers to be configured. If the registrar requires different IPs for the nameservers which is a rare case, you will need to purchase an addition IP for your VPS. This IP can be later used as a dedicated IP for a site.

Nameserver propagation usually takes about 24 hours but sometimes it can be delayed by various reasons. However, if after 72 hours your DNS info is not propagated, this usually means that there a some kind of error in the settings.

Plesk backup stores all account data including settings and databases.

I hope this helps.
