Just got set up with SpamAssassin last week, but I can't see that it's actually filtering anything (we're still getting tons of spam a day).

Here's what I've done thus far:

In Plesk, I went to SERVER > SERVICES MANAGEMENT and started SpamAssassin.

Next, I went to SERVER > SPAM FILTER
Allow User Prefs is checked, # of processes is left at it's default 1, I've lowered the score to 5, and left the default "*****SPAM*****" text in place. Clicked OK, then ENABLED it.

Finally, I went to my first mailbox in DOMAINS > DOMAIN NAME > MAIL > EMAIL ADDRESS

SpamAssassin shows to be on, I've lowered the score there to 5.0, *****SPAM***** text is still in place, and "Delete spam mail when it comes to mailbox" is checkmarked. It is enabled at the top.

Going into the TRAINING tab, it says "Messages learned: 158 as spam, 71 as non-spam, 229 total"

And yet this morning, when checking mail, I received about 300 email, about 99% of which were spam.

What could I be doing wrong here?

Thanks!

Also, spam volumes have doubled in less than a year.

New Yotk Times:
In the last six months, the problem has gotten measurably worse. Worldwide spam volumes have doubled from last year, according to Ironport, a spam filtering firm, and unsolicited junk mail now accounts for more than 9 of every 10 e-mail messages sent over the Internet.

I've noticed quite a bit more spam slipping through SA.  I need to do some adjustments myself.  How is SA with handling the newish picture spam?  (Where the spam is on an image so that text-based filters don't work.)

The picture ones are *maybe* 40% of the problem. Newest ones to pop up are "So-and-so Advice", "Good Morning So-and-so", things like that.
