Hi,

Just got on board VPS a couple of weeks ago, then my VPS server died (VPL1-SD) in the middle of moving my files over. The restore isn't working 100% so the techies are working on a restoration, but my question has to do with upgrading PHP. When the VPS was working earlier this week, I was able to upgrade to PHP 5, but that totally destroyed the functioning of some of my scripts that depended on PHP 4. What I'm trying to do is get it the PHP version the same as what it was when I was on shared hosting. I didn't see PHP 4.4.7 in the repository mentioned here: http://www.lunarforums.com/lunarpages_vps_hosting/how_do_i_setup_my_vps_server-t41213.0.html, just the PHP 5 update. Has anyone tried to upgrade to an incremental update? Any advice or suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Peter,

There are only packages for 4.3.9 and 5.1.6 version of PHP officially available for the os in your VPS, CentOS 4. If you need more newer PHP 4, you may try to build rpm of it or just PHP from sources or find 3rd party repositories providing pre-built rpms for CentOS 4. The first require installing build environment such as compilers.

Please advise if you have any further questions.

I'm assuming I have to install each package, but is there a specific order and is there anything in this list that could possibly interfere with my VPS in anyway? Thanks for the help.

Just realized he compiled this for CENTOS5, anything wrong with that or do I need to compile it from source?

Centos 5 and 4 differ greatly, so it would be advisable to build rpms in such case.
