We are looking for beta testers for Windows VPS plans.

We need people that are willing to spend at least 3 - 5 hours a week testing the product and will have an active site on the server.  You will receive a fully functioning account including plesk for the control panel.  We need your opinion on stability and user experience.

If you are interested in becoming a beta tester contact us at vps@lunarpages.com and put "Windows VPS Tester" in the subject of the email.

How "active" is active?

We are currently developing an asp.net 2.0 site on a standard Windows server.. forgot which server name..

It gets some traffic, but 95% of that is from development work, not outside users. As far as I know the SE's don't know about the URL.

We had planned originally to move up to a dedicated server once the site is developed, but perhaps the VPS might be a better solution??

BTW we are using the Beta1 version of Expression Web for development. I think the final version of EW is due out in 2-4 weeks.

Windsun,

All we ask is that you are actually using the account and giving us some feedback.  The project you are describing sounds perfect.

Hi there vps people.

It's my first post at lunarpages  (I love the space theme) ... and someone out there is config'ing a shiny new linux vps for me right now. I'm experiencing some host-hell, so it's all going to be good, right?

What makes me a good tester... I'm always here. I've been pushing pixels across modems as a hobby since my Earthshine BBS in 1991. Earthshine BBS was my baby.  It was a DOS based PCBoard, with hundreds of conferences, utilities and space files, chat, private messaging and News. It was all held together with my custom crafted 500 line batch files which would get on the phone lines while I slept. That was a lot of fun until 1997, after the change in the internet AUP, when I didn't become AOL.   Rofl   Earthshine was stored on backup tape for the last time.

Just before Y2K, my local computer club sysop team quit.  The other club directors got me out of my house and talked me into (twisting rubber arm) configuring a new Wildcat Winserver and transferring from their 9 year old PCBoard on a Novell network.  omg, they had me running a mirror from the old system to the new system for about 2 months too long.  Hypno I got it working, then the guys walked in and took it over.

I went on to something else and after a couple of years of life experiences and html,  I found php/mysql.  It started with phpbb and then went to CMSs.  I've tried them all, but return to nuke, it is an original ...  For sure I would not run an original nuke!  Currently, I QA with RavenNuke. http://ravenphpscripts.com.  I would be doing that task this morning, if I only had a working server.  I keep the bits and pixels organized on 20 domains and have one active site I would be willing to expose to windows, atm. Wink  And a couple of other domains I would activate too.

So that's about it ... if you are interested you know where to find me.   Nice to meet you all.   Banana Dancer

I've been having a good time with the VPS. I set up a proxy gateway for cell phones to access the net, which works fine.

I have a problem, though. No site that I create will display a page if the file is not called index.html. For example, if the file is called index.php, it will not display even if I directly type index.php - I only get a Page cannot be found error. I know the file is there. I must be doing something silly. I've contacted support, but haven't heard anything.

The only other issue I'm having is phpMyAdmin doesn't load.

It's a good experience, & thank you for allowing my to participate in the beta testing.

Ok, I get part of it - other files display - it's php that isn't working.

I had to go to My Computer > Manage > Internet Information Service > Websites >  the default site & tell it to use the php extension; so now I have the default Joomla running & working. phpMyAdmin still does not load.
