How do you configure Thunderbird to work with lunarpages email? I see an auto configure for outlook but none my preferred Thunderbird. Any suggestions?

Now that we are on the subject, how do you get Gmail to work with lunar mail?

I would not recommend using the Auto Configure for your email accounts offered in cPanel.  This has been known to incorrectly setup the email account in your email client.

If you would like to setup an email account in Thunderbird, you would need to click 'Tools' > 'Account Settings...'.  On the window that comes up, you will see a button that says "Add Account".  Click here to setup your new email account.  You would need to use the 'Email account' option to setup email accounts.

Mail settings should be as follows:

smtp server: yourdomain.com (replace 'yourdomain' with the actual name of your domain)

pop3/imap server: yourdomain.com (replace 'yourdomain' with the actual name of your domain)

pop3 username: youremailaccount@yourdomain.com (if you have created your own email account in your cpanel) or your cpanel username (does not require the @yourdomain.com)

smtp username: same as your pop3 username.

Please note that smtp authentication must be used on our servers.

Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should not be used.

If your email client has problems using the @ symbol for the username then you can use :, + or % sign instead.

Hope this helps.

In regards to setting up GMail to work with your domain's email, this would normally require setting up MX/CNAME records for your domain.  Here are some links that may be helpful for more information on this:

http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/users/gmail.html
http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=33352&topic=9196

You would need to set this up with GMail before changing the MX/CNAME records for your domain.

What is the error message you are receiving when attempting to send/receive email using Thunderbird?  If your domain is not pointed to Lunarpages hosting servers yet, you can use your server name to connect to the server to send email (SERVER.lunarpages.com OR SERVER.lunarservers.com OR SERVER.lunarmania.com, depending on the server where you are hosted).  This would also apply if you have recently changed the nameservers/DNS to point to your Lunarpages hosting server, as propagation may not have completed yet.

It says: Sending of message failed.

"The message could not be sent because connecting to the SMTP server the9worlds.com failed. The server may be available or is refusing SMTP connections. "

I do receive email, just cant send any.
