Originally I was having a problem setting up email, Lunar staff helped me and walked me through what I did wrong. We resolved the issue and I was sending and receiving email through outlook just fine, just recently (maybe 2 days ago) I can no longer send mail, although I can still receive it.

i'll update this post in about 5 with the exact error I get in Outlook Express.

Thanks,
Kevin

Might your ISP have blocked port 25? Try port 587 instead.

Generally when this occurs, especially suddenly, its due to the ISP deciding to block port 25 (amazing how many do this without notifying users)

When this occurs, generally you then use port 587 or use their SMTP servers for sending.

Best way to tell is by running a telnet to your website via cmd prompt.

telnet domainname 25

If you connect you should see something like :

220-turan.lunarmania.com ESMTP Exim 4.68 #1 Wed, 13 Aug 2008 21:15:51 -0700
220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,
220 and/or bulk e-mail.

if you see anything else, then something is blocking port 25

Hmm... I had this same problem and then a few days later -- at the same time that the Dylan server (which hosts my websites) was moved -- both incoming and outgoing email stopped working.  I was away on vacation, and just got back.  I emailed support, but am not expecting a prompt response on Saturday at 9 PM.  I tried the port 587 recommended above, but no luck.  The error messages say that the mail server is found but that login fails and that maybe I should try a different port number.  Any suggestions other than 587 for outgoing, which didn't work.

Hmm... well it's still not working, but it appears I owe customer service a bit of an apology (I had assumed poor response time), since they already responded to my email by asking for more information.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Happy to hear you got this issue sent directly to the support team, hopefully they'll be able to get you all fixed up.  Very Happy
