Hope someone on the board can help me.

Starting about 2 days ago, all kinds of spam started leaking through my various accounts. Up to that point, I had no problems at all. I'm using Outlook to download my emails, and it does a good job of filtering the junk. That's not the problem

Some time ago, I enabled Spam Assassin and have used it since. Frankly, it worked great.

So, I'm wondering if there have been some changes made, or did my copy just get "old" or forget its duty?? Or what?

Seriously, what can I do to bring back the Assassin to where he was? I must be getting over 50 Spams per HOUR!

Hi there,

It may be possible that SpamAssassin needs to be restarted on the server where you're hosted.  You may want to send a ticket/email to support if SpamAssassin is not tagging your email headers.  If you are unsure how to do this, support can setup a test account and check this for you.

I hope this helps.

I am on Camilla Server.  I am rather new to Lunar webhosting, as I just arrived in early September 2007, although I was hosted someplace else for about five years.   I set up Spam Assassin when I first got here - and just forgot about it.

Recently I have noticed a huge increase in spam, so I have been looking at the headers of incoming mail.  I was surprised to see that the typical spam assassin scores that I was use to seeing weren't there.  I had it set to 5 and moved it down to 4.5  .. but to me, from looking at the incoming mail headers, Spam Assassin doesn't seem to be scoring the mail anymore.

Here is what the  headers have been saying.

X-Spam-Status: No, score=
X-Spam-Score:
X-Spam-Bar:
X-Spam-Flag: NO

  No score!
 Confused

Anyone else noticing this?   I guess I could write a help ticket, but thought maybe I would ask here first to see if there is something I could do on my own.

Thanks

I would recommend sending in a help desk ticket about that issue.

I've been dealing with this "no score from Spam Assassin" problem on "delta.lunarpages.com" for a while. I opened a helpdesk ticket a while ago and have been going back & forth since, but they haven't really fixed anything. They've restarted SA on the server several times and I don't think it did much if anything--within a couple of days I was getting unscored email. It's not an insignificant number (Rx five in a two hour period), and since it's unscored and not always from the same sender there's not much I do to block it (e.g. changing thresholds or SA flag values).

I'm getting email in three groups, showing that SA is working well in a lot of cases, scoring & blocking a lot of real spam and very little non-spam. I've worked with helpdesk by creating dummy accounts showing that "test spam" gets scored and rejected in the cases we've tried. They seem to have taken the position that since most spam is getting blocked and that "some spam will leak thru a spam filter" that the *unscored* spam isn't a big deal. But I'm thinking that either there's a problem (config, obsolete version) with Spam Assassin or that some spammers have figured a way around it. It is interesting that the X-Spam headers *do* get inserted in the emails but no score is added.

I can keep harping on helpdesk for my ticket (ODNL4704NHY1) but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Obviously at least *one* other person has had the problem and had it corrected (is there a ticket # I can reference for this?). Anybody else seeing this?
