we have this lovely new section of hte forum, so i guess i'll use it. Zone Alarm is a firewall. It helps protect your computer from potential threats such as hackers, or malicious programs on your computer from connecting to the internet if you don't want them to. I use zone alarm, and i highly recommend it. there is a free version, which is the one i use, its good.

Zone alarm is good, but pro version has security leaks.

Here A vulnerability exists in ZoneAlarm, which could allow an unauthorized user to connect to a host with local intranet security settings.

If the first two octets of a visitors IP address are identical to those of the local host, ZoneAlarm will allow the visiting user to access the host with local security settings.

Just givin ya heads up, i do believe Zone Alarm is best free firewall.

I use the free version of Zone Alarm and it's awesome.

Providing u check "for personal use" (and use it that way) their is no charge.

It's super easy to set up and not at all intrusive on your pc settings.

I just use Zone Alarm.  I don't understand how the Pro could let someone in...even with the similarity in IP, unless some of its permissions have been relaxed.  Heck, I gotta ask it permission to get to my own (local) web server!
