We have been working with our building at One Wilshire to build out a new datacenter that is better suited for our growth, cooling needs, and power requirements. After months of planning, on the part of One Wilshire and our Technical Staff in Los Angeles, the data center is ready. Our new data center is larger than the original and provides us with 70 tons of cold air blowing directly at our hardware, from all sides.
We are upgrading our networking equipment in the new datacenter. We have installed a Force10 switch that will be used for the primary connections. The new switch will increase the strength and speed of our existing network.
Unfortunately, this move means there will be a brief disruption of service while the servers are physically moved from the current space to the new area. (down a few floors) Our technical staff will be working as quickly as possible to minimize the downtime for our customers. We anticipate a server move to take less then thirty minutes and this will be accomplished after hours. To ensure this is a seamless and a quick process, we have literally duplicated all of our equipment in the new location and moving a server will be as simple as unplugging it, taking it down the elevator to new floor, plugging it back in.
Because of the volume of servers we have in our current area the move will be spread out over a three to four week time period. As we get ready to move the servers we will post a notification on our forum
We apologize for the inconvenience but are very excited about the improvements this will mean for our customers. Thank you for your patience during this transition. If you have any questions, please contact
