Hi.

I'd like to sign up to the basic plan but have a few questions first.

Few of them are kinda rookie questions, so please don't laugh!:

1. Are the servers running some Linux distro or do I have to ask for this?

2. Can I have PHP 5, MySQL 5 AND PostgresSQL 8 or is it only possible to have either MySQL OR PostgreSQL?

3. Are there any limitations to the number of e-mails you receive/send per minute/hour etc?

4. Do we get full DNS Management options in the control panel? (A records, Cnames, MX records etc.)

5. Will the domain registrations be anonymous or do I have to ask specifically for this?

Well, that's all I could think of at the moment.

Thanks for your time.

The Basic plan (and most other plans) are CentOS Linux. If you wish to debase yourself, you can sign up for a Windows plan.

2. Can I have PHP 5, MySQL 5 AND PostgresSQL 8 or is it only possible to have either MySQL OR PostgreSQL?

The default is to be assigned to a server with PHP 4 and MySQL 4. I have no idea what PostgreSQL versions are where, but servers have both databases. You can request a server with PHP 5 and/or (?) MySQL 5 for no charge.

The last cap I heard was sending 20/minute and 600/hour (someone has claimed 500/hour). I don't know of any inbound caps.

Lunarpages is a reseller for Tucows. I think you have to go into some other site (manage.opensrs.net) to manage your domains, but I don't know what's available.

You pay $7.95/year per domain to anonymize. Some other registrars do it for free, but charge more up front.

Hello:

I wanted to clarify a few things. All of our new Linux based servers will have MySQL 5.x on them (so anyone who signs up for our Basic and Business plans today will automatically get MySQL 5).

DNS management where you can change the A records, etc is not available in our control panel. You will need to contact our support department each time you would like a DNS record changed.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Guys, first off, thank you for the replies.

RyanJ, so just to confirm: I can have both MySQL 5 and PostgreSQL 8 on my server, right?

Thanks.

I think some of the newer servers may have 8, I would suggest dropping in an e-mail to sales@lunarpages.com and our sales team could get that information for you.  Thanks!

Can the email limit be lifted on any plans?

When you say "server", could you elaborate? On a shared server plan, you are not permitted to run things full time in the background.

P.S. The outbound email cap is now down to 300 per hour, so that LP's servers don't get on spam blacklists.
