CAN I SET UP A MUSIC PLAYER FOR MY SITE?

I signed up with Geocities and built a site there but the music player is terrible. I have Front Page 2000 and am thinking of upgrading to Front Page 2002. I need to know before I sign up with you what media players you support that I can use to build my site. I want to play sound clips - about 30 seconds in lenght - and let the user select which clip they can listen to. Geocities is lame - no tech support & I had to upload wave files which never load on dial up connections.

If you can help me with this, I will surely be signing up and will then need help transferring.

What do you mean by "a music player"?

You can record music and encode it and upload it to the lunarpages server. Is that what you want to do?

Lunarpages allows any type of music file to be uploaded. mp3s are allowed, but only legal ones.

You should be able to play most sound files in Windows Media Player, or similar.

I mean my own music - MP3 or wave or any other format that I can use. I have Front Page and it has a feature to add background music to your web site. I am an acoustic guitarist/singer/ songwriter & I need to know what media players would work well with your web server. Can you recommend a good one that will work with Front Page?

I used a template with Geocities but the music player is not working correctly and it never loads on dial up connections. They are not really very user friendly and have no customer support which is why I came to look around here. My high speed friends have confirmed that the sound clip is there on my site, so I did upload it correctly. I was guessing it was a problem becuase it was a 5 mb wave file that takes too long to load.

I have built a few websdites from scratch with Front Page & am working on one to upload as soon as I leave Geocities. Just need a little advice to get the music player up and running. I want to post several sound clips 30 to 40 seconds long and let the user choose which one they want to hear. I don't want to let them download MP3s - I want them to buy my CD.

I also want to create a slide show intro to my website. Any advise on how to do this or what program I could use would be great. (Do I need another program or can I use Front Page?)

I have a few more weeks on my Geocities and then I'll call to get help transfering it to your server and getting the FTP stuff set up, as long as I am sure I can do what I want with your server.

The only thing that will limit what you want to do here is your own experience in webdesigning.

The servers here at lunarpages are totally capable of doing what you want, lunarpages does support everything you asked for.

To get a file to play in the background, use this code:

Just to add to this:

Realplayer files are fine
Windows media player files are fine
Wave files are fine (if you really want)
mp3 files are fine

There is no type of file that you cannot use on lunarpages.

Thanks for all of your information. As you can probably tell, my experience is limited - I use Front Page and templates and that is all I know how to do. HTML is still like a foreign language and I am treading deep water when I play with it -really clueless and guessing. I was hopping around looking for a program I could use and I was thinking about getting Quick Time Pro - would that work? I am going to use what I have to build my site and upload it - sounds like I can get support here for pretty much any issue that comes up, right? I wanted to make a slide show intro with music (which Quicktime can do - will your server support that, too?), and then have a few of the sound clips available on my site. My question is this - do I need another program to do the sound clips or just type in a hyperlink to my soundclip? Sounds almost simple & obvious, but I really need advice. I am a pretty experienced computer operater, just not a web designer, so I need to use the programs that are WYSIWYG and let me be creative without needing to learn the codes. Any further advice is really, really appreciated. I read the info on the site you suggested above and it's still a little like greek . . .
