So I am looking into getting a new hosting company. Nothing wrong with the current one other then the price which has gone up to a point of being a bit too much. Anyways, here are my questions about your basic hosting package.

1. What are the limitations for maximum concurrent connections? In other words, how many people could be viewing my site at  the same time before people start getting connection errors?

2. What are the maximum allowed mysql connections? Is this per database or per hosting account?

3. While I know I wont even come close to the hitting max bandwidth for the month, is there a daily or hourly cap that could cause my site to be down?

4. My sites are primarily forums for coders and games. Sometimes people make post an "vulgar" word or two in their posts. Would this cause my service to get shut down?

I think thats about it. Generally my sites don't have a lot of traffic but on a good day there could be 100 or so people on at the same time and if I run a contest or the occasional news release of some upcoming event, traffic could jump up to 300 or so users. Thanks for your answers.

I had the same question before I signed on with LP. I don't have the exact numbers, but if you do a search on this forum.. it will give you all the information you asked and more Bouncin for Joy

I was so frustrated with vDeck3 spending weeks while nothing was fixed. I spent several hours on the LP forum doing searches on similar questions like yourself before I signed up. It is well worth spending several hours looking at 12 month historicals of Pre-Sales questions and answers Very Happy as well as the TOS of what you can and can't do with your account(s).

I think you might have your terminology a little mixed up here.  Now, we don't measure as far as how many web site visitors you get.  With MySQL concurrent connections (the number of people who can access the database at exactly the same time) the limit is 50.  This doesn't mean you can only have 50 people on at once - it only means that you are limited to having that many people all accessing the database in a small amount of time.  Since with many good forums scripts out there this is only a few seconds a best - you don't have any reason to worry.

No caps here on bandwidth as long as you stay under the monthly limit. With "vulgar" posts - just make sure it is nothing illegal and you should be good to go.  Hope that helps and if you have any other questions feel free to let us know or drop us an e-mail at sales@lunarpages.com.  Thanks!
