I am reviewing if I should move our corporate web site to lunarpages hosting but I wanted to know if there were any issues regarding our existing email accounts using the the same domain.  I do not want to have those email accounts hosted at LP.
thanks

You could do your web site hosting here, and your e-mail hosting elsewhere if that is what you need.  Might take some work done on the server side of things, but that can be done by shooting over an e-mail to support@lunarpages.com once your account is setup.

talking around the office the general consensus is that all we need to do is change our dns A record to point to LP and the MX record point to our email server.  Is this what you mean by some work on the server side.  Not sure what needs to be done on the LP side in this sceanario.

We would just need to make the simple little change to your MX records on our side to help with the routing.

one more thing.  Our legal department is asking about service level agreements or guaranteed uptimes.  Do you have any information that I can pass on to them?

Well mitch it has been a few weeks since signing up and I have to say I am very unhappy with the service. Response time has been very sketchy throughout the day since the beginning but I think it is getting worse the last week.  As of now I have been unable to connect to my site for the last 1/2 hour because I am getting a site to busy message and I have gotten no help from customer service, they have basically told me that it is a problem on my network, even though I have no problem reaching any other website on the web.  Before I cancel my account I figured I would see if you had any other input or alternatives for me.  I am currently on limu server response is usually really bad between 11 - 2 pm est.

What server are you on? (ex: SERVER.lunarpages.com), i've never gotten too busy errors(liber and demeter).

Also, what exactly is on your corporate website? Anything YOU might be doing to overload the server?

I would suggest contacting support@lunarpages.com with the information mentioned here:

http://www.lunarforums.com/lunarpages_how_tos/random_issues_with_pulling_up_your_web_site-t46923.0.html

As long as you can provide them with enough information to work from so they can see things from your perspective they would be more than happy to look into your issues.

i am on limu.lunarmania.com, and my site is not even live yet so I have zero activity and no I am not doing anything memory or cpu intensive, usually I am doing nothing but trying to access a page.  I have done the steps you listed mitch and I the response I got back was

From your traceroute, it shows that you are timing out on the first hop. This is usually indicates that there is an issue with a router, a modem or most commonly virus scanning software blocking traffic.

Are you running Norton antivirus? This AV has been known to block traceroute attempts.

Again, I have no trouble with any other external site and I am not running Norton.  Any other suggestions?

Yes, often if you get a time out early on that could be the case - now if the issue was at the end of the traceroute, then there might be something wrong with the server side of things.  Could you give me your help desk ticket number so I could get somebody to check into this for you?

I appreciate it Mitch, we were planning to go live with the site in a few weeks so this is a critical time for us and if we need to move to another provider I will need to make a decision in the next few days.

the ticket number is 762183
thanks

Very odd results.  Was talking with somebody from our support team about your issue and it looks as if your ISP is blocking icmp traffic.  As long as you are making it to the last hop via the traceroute, you are not being blocked.  The icmp block is the reason why your traceroute looks empty.

The final ping times of 81-84ms are not that bad at all.  You might try to do a few more tests when you are having issues, and make note of the date and time so support has more to work from when looking at your issue.

I will certainly watch the performance and report my findings but again the problem is I have no other issues with any other site that i am working with so it will be difficult to convince anyone why it is not related to lunarpages
