Hello there, im from Russia and i have a pre-sales question...

im going to take lunarpages as my primary hosting for my future project but have a problem: dont clearly understand the meaning of the anonymous ftp access...

i mean that i will need to use FTP as a "disk" for my users SO that they could upload and download files from my FTP, and em... the number of users might be 10, 100 or 1000 u know...-at one time uploadin or downloadin their files.

So is it possible and how i can get this possibility?

Anon. ftp means that anyone and everyone can access the files. And I dont think you can do that since there's a limit to how many ftp sessions can be open... and the files being stored have to relate to the website (cant be computer backups)

I dont think so but I think i could no longer connect to my own ftp when i tried enabling 10 simultaneous connections. (I think the limit was 8 but not 100% on this)

"Anonymous" FTP (where accounts with passwords are not required for access) does require a dedicated IP address (I think it's a couple of dollars a month). Presumably it's subject to the limit on number of simultaneous connections (somewhere under 10). You'll have to get the exact figures from someone in support. You can try emailing to sales@lunarpages.com, but they won't respond until Tuesday (Monday is a holiday).

It would vary due to location, time of the day, and speed of the connection - wouldn't be able to give you a one size fits all for that type of question.
