All I can say is stay far away from the other hosting company.com!  They have caused me nothing but grief since I signed up with them.  Server troubles, lost pages, down time.  Plus, no forums, no FAQ and no toll free phone line to get help.  You have no way to talk to any other users of their service to find out how they are.

They hardly ever answer their e-mails too!   I want to get a refund from them as they say they offer a 30 day money back guarantee but they won't respond to any of my letters!

I recently signed up here at lunar and while I haven't gotten to actually use their services yet because of the domain change, I can say that they have answered all my questions just about as fast as I wrote them!  And they must be good if they have an on site forum. They aren't afraid to have people rate them right here in public.  That's good business practice in my book!

I work for Ikonboard, on the development team.
I use my Lunarpages account for running new ideas and scripts.
The error logs are really helpful when I get something wrong, and not every host allows you access to them.

I'm in and out on FTP almost constantly, and I must say, the server has NEVER let me down, and everything works smoothly.

I've used a number of hosts before, and had similar experiences to yourself.
But Lunarpages are the best in my book.
So much so, I'm going to transfer my other site to here this month, as the host I'm using for that one is a bit hit and miss.
