Im already a customer with a basic account and would like to set up an internet radio show, i dont have a clue how to go about this, i figure i'll need a dedicated or VPS hosting - is this true? If so what kind of server could I get away with? I am Living in Ireland most of my listeners will probably be Irish and wondering will your servers, that are hosted in America(?), have a bad effect on speed/coverage? Any help or advice on this matter appreciated! Thanks

I don't think you'll need VPS. Just record files to .mp3, upload the files, and embed them in your site or allow users to download.

All of LunarPages' servers are in the US.

Yes, I would suggest trying Basic out, then you could always upgrade down the road if needed.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know.  Thanks!

If you are "broadcasting" other people's material, don't forget to get the proper clearances for public performance. You wouldn't want to go through all the trouble of getting set up, only to be closed down for copyright violations!

That's a good idea but it doesnt give the effect of a live radio show  Sad

When you say try basic out, do you mean just uploading mp3's or using it to stream a radio show (which would be against TOS on a basic account?).

Aye that's nothing to worry about there, it will just be a radio show with speakers and guests.

and another question what about using something like TeamSpeak? What would be the best and cheapest hosting to get for this?

You would need VPS or Dedicated to host something like TeamSpeak, best not to use that in a shared hosting enviroment.  As long as you are not broadcasting anybody else's copyrighted content, you should be alright. I'd suggest going with the Basic hosting plan.  Also, if most of it is just basic spoken word, might drop down your bitrate, since speaking voices don't need as high of a bit rate as music does.

I would try to use Basic hosting first, you can always upgrade later. Good luck with everything
