Yes, There is a limit of 50 concurrent connections per user. Wich is ALOT of connections Smile

Concurrent in what basis? 50 users every 1 second?

How do we know if we have reach that limit? Does this forum reach this limit?

the forum doesnt it would need a whole lot of users at the same time browsing the forums (maybe five hundred or more) since mysql connections are really done quickly.

If you plan to have that many users on your site using mysql...you might wanna email support and see that with them before starting up..But you should be allright at any rate with 50 concurrent connections.

When you hit the limit you will know. As it won't allow any more connections. It is 50 connections per user. There is no time limit on it.

We never had a site reaching that limit.

A good thing to do is make sure to close your connections with the mysql_close(db connection variable name) or the mysql_free_result(connection variable name) at the bottom of all your pages.

This will make sure the server doesn't try to maintain a connection that is no longer needed.

We usually use mysql_pconnect which create a pesistent connection because each stariting connection to mysql take more time. A pesistant connection elimate this time.

From what I know, isn't it forever will be 1 user who connect to MySQL since I am the only user of my account and all connection to the DB will be me!

So do we come up an idea of 50 users?

To really make it clear. Every user is allowed to have 50 concurrent mysql connections.

max_user_connections = 50
