How does this relate to the download speeds one might achieve on your particular shared server, though? I imagine that in most cases, download bandwidth is less of a factor than the processing load on the server... I get around 120K/sec on a 4MB download link, so there's room for improvment  |

for what it's worth, I tried this at work the other night... well, about 2:30AM, so probably very few people on the network at the time...
the 100MB file levelled off at a xfer rate around 1192k/s (yes, 1192, not a typo)... now, if only I could figure out how to get that sort of xfer rate at home without going broke...

I downloaded the 10MB file, got an average of 538 KB/Sec. This was at 11:30pm in NC. I have Road Runner cable that was recently upgraded to 5MB. EDIT: Oh yeah, cool link and great idea. Let's people see how speed your servers and WAN speeds are. |

I just ran the full 100mb at over 470kb/s mostly stayed closer to 500. I'm on a 5mbit business line with comcast.

Wow.. that's sweet.. my download of the 10MB file was not cool this morning, it hovered at 230kb/s max, the dwindled off to 130kb/s I think I may be calling my ISP tonight.. my uploads are great and well within the norm for what I am supposed to have at 800kbps (roughly 95-100kb/s) but with a 5mbps connection I should be able to snag these files at 600+Kb/s consistently.  |
