How does this relate to the download speeds one might achieve on your particular shared server, though? I imagine that in most cases, download bandwidth is less of a factor than the processing load on the server... I get around 120K/sec on a 4MB download link, so there's room for improvment

for what it's worth, I tried this at work the other night... well, about 2:30AM, so probably very few people on the network at the time...
the 100MB file levelled off at a xfer rate around 1192k/s (yes, 1192, not a typo)... now, if only I could figure out how to get that sort of xfer rate at home without going broke...

I downloaded the 10MB file, got an average of 538 KB/Sec. This was at 11:30pm in NC. I have Road Runner cable that was recently upgraded to 5MB. EDIT: Oh yeah, cool link and great idea. Let's people see how speed your servers and WAN speeds are.

Wow.. that's sweet.. my download of the 10MB file was not cool this morning, it hovered at 230kb/s max, the dwindled off to 130kb/s I think I may be calling my ISP tonight.. my uploads are great and well within the norm for what I am supposed to have at 800kbps (roughly 95-100kb/s) but with a 5mbps connection I should be able to snag these files at 600+Kb/s consistently.
