Hi Guys,

I am thinking of subscribing with Lunar Pages as my webhost.  Presently, I do not have a host.  LP seems to have the right mix of features and price.  This forum and the toll free support set it apart from other web hosters.  I have not checked the toll free support.  I will have to call at random times to see what the response is.

Here's my first question for you guys.  I plan to use Moveable Type software.  I believe at least one other person in this forum also uses this software. But I wanted to confirm with you anyway.

Movable Type is a weblogging content management system (http://www.movabletype.org/) and will run on my account. This system has the following requirements:

* The ability to run custom CGI scripts
* Perl, version 5.004_04 or greater

And, either:

Support for the DB_File Perl module *OR* MySQL & the DBD::mysql module

Would my account on LP meet these three requirements?

Thanks, Guys.

Yes, moveable type can be installed on lunarpages.

Quite a few people have already done it.

Thanks for the quick reply Stephan.  Yes, I thought someone referred to it on another topic.

Can you point me to where I can find other people using Movable Type?

I would like to see there sites -- and perhaps post some questions for them.

Thanks.

PHPNuke is supplied in the Control Panel.

You could also try postnuke.

Thanks Charles, for pointing me to your sites.  Simply beautiful -- like the state you are from!

Are your websites based on templates available in MT -- or did you design these yourself?

I am beginning to appreciate LP more and more.  This forum is terrific.

the templates of the moola and charles sites are heavily modified versions of the georgia blue template provided at movabletype.org.  the photoblog is something i came up with recently.  i decided to focus it more on the images than anything else.

mt is flexible enough so that you can design your own templates.  the templates at movabletype.org or the standard one that comes with the installation are more of a guide for those that want to get up and running quickly and don't know much about mt functions and css.  once you chalk up some experience with the system, you'll find out that you can do some pretty crazy things.

also, i know of one other mt user at lunarpages.  you can check his site at http://www.airbeagle.com/ .
