Hi,
I have been with lunarpages for some years, all plans are basic hosting plans, and support has been incredible. I have about 14 domains on a lesser number of sites. Anyway, my best site is groaning a lot at present, so I asked support about suggestions as to whether to go for the business plan, and the VPS system was suggested and my questions were passed onto the senior support guys.
Since then, I have to say, none of my questions have been answered, and every few hours I get an extra question about what plan I need, etc, which almost feels like I am talking to a salesperson rather than a knowledgeable technical person; oh, and it will cost $75 an hour for copying from one site to another, which I have declined.
So, here are the questions (I am a systems admin person by the way):
Are there lots of hidden costs that I am not aware of? Will my site run faster, I see I get 1/25th of the server cpu. I notice I have to do all software upgrades, as I have root access to the server. What exactly does the server come with in the first instance in the case of software packages, e.g apache, java, mail packages, phpMyAdmin, ruby, and if I break the site big time, is this going to cost me the earth in support costs?
I have to say, since thinking about upgrading, and with little useful information and a slow response to my questions, I did start looking around at what other companies are offering (but, I made this mistake with other companies in the past), and still think lunarpages is brilliant.
Just for info, my main site is http://londonpublichouse.com which is just a whole host of html and images, so nothing clever.
  I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Most if not all the costs are on the VPS pages or you will be alerted to during the sign up process.  I promise there won't be any secret extra charge slipped in there that we don't tell you about. Very Happy

Thanks,
My site is seriously suffering from overload, for whatever reason; and although I earn peanuts from the site, it is enough to pay for an upgrade. I am just hoping (almost praying), that lunarpages has not been bought out by the scummy company [the other hosting company], who are the pits. I noted a second complaint about the same time as mine, which would be a shame, as I love  the past service of lunarpages.
I am still looking forward to using the vps system, even if it costs me, so that I can report back to others [my sites are just preparing for this important update, yawn]; the documentation is a bit lacking, typical of an opensource software provider, but hey ho.
It would be useful if the people sorting this gave an update on when this may happen. I hjave to say, this is not typical lunarpages support, in fact it is typical rubbish support that I expect from other providers. Can someone who runs this site take away all those silly emoticons.

Well, these forums are not used for official support - I would suggest dropping an e-mail to dedicated@lunarpages.com and they will be able to help you with the questions here you have in play.  Thanks!
