Hello, I do have a website already myself, created with a script, but I would really like to get into creating websites for other people because I love it, but only have basic html knowledge etc.  I know there are lots of ways to create a website, but my first questions are regardings Free Templates in Fantastico, but as a total Newbie to Website creating...I have a couple of questions ::

1. Can I use these Free Templates to create websites for other people, and get paid for it ?

2. If I can and someone pays me to do a website for them wouldnt they expect to own the code etc...how would it work ?   Using Free Templates how would I deal with the question Do I own the site ?? (Could they pack it up and take it away to another host ?) ie "Copyright" or "ownership" issues of websites built using Free Templates ?

As you can tell, I really dont have a clue where to start with all this and could do with some...ok a lot of help  Haha....MUCH appreciated  !

Thanks

Hello SJ, happy to have you here on the forums with us.  You could use that method to create an awesome web site layout and design, but you are not allowed to host others on the Basic, Business, or Windows hosting plans.  That would be in violation of the AUP.  If you want to do that type of hosting, you might want to check out our Reseller hosting plan here:

http://www.lunarpages.com/reseller-hosting/

If you get somebody else to design the web site or you use a tool or service to do so, you might pay attention to the fine print.  You could use the free templates provided by the Fantastico script, but I wouldn't consider telling people that they were your original work and designs.

Hope that helps some, and if you have any other questions please feel free to let us know.

Hi, thanks,

I understand about Reseller, and I would tell them that they are Templates and would not claim that I built the site atall.

BUT...What I really need to know is if I use Free Templates in Templates Express to create someone a website...

1.  Can they only use that Template at Lunarpages... ?
2. What sort of license do these Free Templates have ?

I would say that is probably not allowed.  You would need to check with the providers of Fantastico Netenberg.com for an official thumbs up or thumbs down on that issue.

So it would be safe to say, that I could do a website for someone (on a reseller !), and get paid for it, as long as I tell them that they are Templates and only to be used at Lunarpages  Very Happy and then I would have no worries  hug me

I'll tell you what, here would probably be the recommended way of doing things.  With your Lunarpages hosting account, you also were given a login to our affiliate program.  Have your friend or clients sign up through your special affiliate link - and then you'll get paid for each one that sets up with us.

Once they are setup, have them send you their login information - and then you can setup the site for them, and be their go to webmaster person.  You can then use the template express option for them, and you would then not have to worry about any legalities or anything like that.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Mitch  Applause...is it cheaper for them to have their own account rather than a reseller then ?

I would say managing things would be easier on your side of things doing it this way rather than though a reseller account.  If you want to act as your own little web hosting company, then I would say go for the reseller account.  If you just want to get a little extra cash for brining friends and family into Lunarpages (who wouldn't mind sending you their login info so you can work on their site) then the affiliate route might be better.
