What web design software would you recommend for a beginner, but one who is fairly fast at picking things up?

I've been playing around in FrontPage, but don't like a lot of the themes - they look so unprofessional. PageMason seems somewhat limited. I'm happy to purchase something, but would rather not splash out too much on something that isn't what I'm looking for so thought I'd look for some tips...

n/p - happy to help!  Might also check out some of the content management scripts you can install (like WordPress or Joomla) from your hosting account.  One great resource to help you do a kind of "test run" of both the public and admin interfaces of these CMS scripts is http://www.opensourcecms.com/.   Thumbs Up

I learned (what little I know) about html by building a page with Mozilla Composer (WYSIWYG), but then editing the code with my old favorite Windows editor- 1st page- http://www.evrsoft.com/
