I'm on the Gallifrey server, and there is a major problem -- I have a simple test script which demonstrates that trying to download a simple remote file using the PHP readfile() function is timing out on the server. This is not a client side issue, since the rest of the sample page HTML displays instantly. The problem is the fetching of the remote file (a simple rss xml file in this case).

I have two other hosting companies which I use, and on both of their boxes the same exact test works fine. I even provided all three urls to support to look at.  They still are going through the usual * of asking me to tell them my IP and ping times, etc...which has nothing at all to do with this problem. Can someone please help?  This is preventing us from rolling out our new website, and if it's not fixed, we will have to cancel our Lunarpages hosting and go elsewhere.

I see that via your ticket, this has been moved to a section where our server admins can review your situation.  I am afraid this is a topic we may not be able to help you with here on the forums.  I would recommend keeping this discussion with in your current ticket and talking with the Lunarpages support team about this issue.  If you have any questions on how best to use these forums please see the green forum rules link in my signature.

Hi Mitch - well, after 20 (yes, 20) replies on the support ticket, LunarPages finally acknowledged the problem was on their end. It's still broken, but apparently they will fix it soon.

How can I get this fixed faster? Having to reply 20 times to various low-level support reps who have no idea of the problem is a waste of my time, as well as yours. This type of support is unacceptable.
