I've been following WP's 5 minute directions for over an hour now and I think I'm stuck.  I ran into two major problems tonight.  The 5 minute version didn't make any sense to a total WP and LP novice, so I scrolled down to the detailed instructions part.  Okay, they didn't help much either.  Haha

First, I went to the part about using pHp My Admin and I'm not even sure I could've.  Is there any tutorial that's Lunar Pages based on what part of the 5 minute page we should follow and ignore?  For example- I'm not totally sure this part even applies to me as a Lunar Pages subscriber:

"If your web server has phpMyAdmin installed, you may follow these instructions to create your WordPress username and database.

Note: These instructions are written for phpMyAdmin 2.6.0; the phpMyAdmin user interface can vary slightly between versions.

   1. If a database relating to WordPress does not already exist in the Database dropdown on the left, create one:
         1. Choose a name for your WordPress database ('wordpress' or 'blog' are good), enter it in the Create new database field, and click Create.
   2. Click the Home icon in the upper left to return to the main page, then click Privileges. If a user relating to WordPress does not already exist in the list of users, create one:
         1. Click Add a new User.
         2. Chose a username for WordPress ('wordpress' is good) and enter it in the User name field. (Be sure Use text field: is selected from the dropdown.)
         3. Choose a difficult-to-guess password (ideally containing a combination of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols), and enter it in the Password field. (Be sure Use text field: is selected from the dropdown.) Re-enter the password in the Re-type field.
         4. Write down the username and password you chose.
         5. Leave all options under Global privileges at their defaults.
         6. Click Go.
   3. Return to the Privileges screen and click the Check privileges icon on the user you've just created for WordPress. In the Database-specific privileges section, select the database you've just created for WordPress under the Add privileges to the following database dropdown. The page will refresh with privileges for that database. Click Check All to select all privileges, and click Go.
   4. On the resulting page, make note of the host name listed after Server: at the top of the page. (This will usually be localhost.)

The second problem I've been having is during Step 5 of the detailed instructions.

Step 5: Run the Install Script

Point your favorite web browser to start the installation script.

    * If you placed the WordPress files in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
    * If you placed the WordPress files in a subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php "

I installed WP in the root directory.  I had no idea if that was a good decision or a stupid one.  But when I put the link into Mozilla, I got an error message.

Oh, and I guess my third question of the night would be what the heck am I supposed to do to get WP up and running after I sort out the other two problems?  I really need a LP based tutorial on this.  Confused

Thanks in advance.  Confused

Hey,

You can create mysql dbs and users from "MySQL' area of the cPanel... if you already created and still getting errors, please send an email to support@lunarpages.com and we can check this for you.

Have you checked if your fantastico has wp 2.5 ? if so, its easy to install from there. However, I am not sure if wp 2.5.1 would be there ( if you are installing 2.5.1, which has a major security fix as per Matt )

Fantastico is the easiest and fastest method of installing Wordpress. And the latest Wordpress version is already available in Lunarpages cPanel.

No it is not. I'm just in the process of doing this myself and I thought I would just use Fantastico to update my Wordpress blog. So I did and the minute I updated and logged into my Wordpress admin, I was confronted with an advisory to update AGAIN to version 2.51. As of this writing, Fantastico will install WordPress 2.50, not 2.51.

Now I'm plowing through the so-called "5 minute installation" (as per the thread starter), trying to get Wordpress updated AGAIN to version 2.51.

It would be greatly appreciated if LP updated Fantastico to install Wordpress 2.51...

Will probably take a while before this is put in place, we have to first wait for the team behind Fantastico to roll out a stable update.
