so i watched the tutorial and followed the steps.
and i think i was able to make half of it to work.
i can receive emails on my outlook express, but the problem is - i can't send emails.
always give me this errors :
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pinoy pet finder . MYUSERNAMEHERE/REMOVEDBYME', Server: 'mail.pinoypetfinder.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

how to do i set up the smtp authentication ? and what "welcome email" are they talking about on the video?

i tried doing this on cmd

Have you tried using your ISP's SMTP info to send mail with. Sometimes they block the use of an outside one for security reasons. It would go like this: yourisp.com or as another example: charter.com or mail.charter.com

SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM (where SERVER is the name of the server where an account is on) is for shared accounts. You would try your primary server IP instead of the SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM.

Are you able to telent to the port 25 of your server? Replace 110 with 25 in the command you ran to connet to the POP3 port to verify, if you are able connect to the SMTP service. If you don't get a reply, it is more than likely that your ISP is blocking outgoing SMTP connections. If that is the case, you would try to use your ISP SMTP or open alternative SMTP port on your server .

MerlinsLair, my isp.. that makes sense.. cuz I tried setting this on my aunt's comp (outlook express) and it worked. now i'm thinking of reinstall (is that the right term?) my outlook express. but now since you mentioned something about my isp... I will try.

perestrelka, thanks for the tip. I will try that one too. (btw, I tried using the google mail settings on my outlook express yday and it worked (send/receive)

It will be clear if it is your ISP block or not after you do the telnet test. Please reply back, if you require any further assistance.

Did you use SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM or just mask your server IP or the hostname by SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM in your reply?

As I mentioned in one of the replies, SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM should be substituted with the actual server name. You can use your domain name or the primary server IP instead SERVER.LUNARPAGES.COM to test the connectivity to the mail services on your dedicated server.

ah, i get it. well i tried that already, i was able to get connected (dunno if the term is right) but when i'm about to enter my login username and password, it gave me error. (my password are correct, but for some reason it won't let me connect to my mail server  Confused

Hi,

You mentioned previously that you tried to telnet on the port 110 which is used for POP3 to receive emails. But did you try telnet to the port 25 which is used for mail sending? Where are you trying to input login details?
