I liked it, too. Very "smooth".... which is the point, right? Wink

Not necessarily, I would have preferred at least a little more interesting content.
However, overall I do like the feel of the website (pixel fonts not withstanding).

well yes, i can see the loading times being a bit much, but they shouldn't be too bad. i'm on cable (currently 6400kbps) and the site takes only seconds to download.
Congratulations on being named the site of the month. And BTW, I had absolutely no difficulties with the load time whatsoever.

The site load times weren't the biggest issues, the main ones were pet peeves I have that this site uses:

1. An entry page, these never serve any purpose unless the company has R or X-rated content and is providing a warning for entry.  This company doesn't meet those criteria.

2. Music upon getting into the main site and I couldn't find any button to shut it off (I didn't look too hard though, might have been one).  Music shouldn't sound immediately on entry to a site--it should be an option you can enable if you want to hear it and off by default.

The other issues of the fonts being small, that was fine but it would improve readability to have the option to increase the fonts.  Flash can be interactive, so this could definitely be build into the site.

I do like the colors and the overall site look itself.  It's an interesting site, but the above 2 points keep me from giving it a thumbs up.  Many flash sites do both points, and many many people do not like entry pages and sound on the sites they surf.  Hopefully, the input is helpful. Smile

everyone’s input is greatly appreciated and of course, thank you to amy for choosing me for site of the month.

after some consideration and other comments i have removed the enter button. my thought on this initially was to have the user experience a sense of interaction; where you do something to cause something else to occur, like releasing a ball and it bounces.

i certainly understand the sound issue as well. i just designed another site, enorestaurant.com (also hosted with Lunarpages) where a user has the option to turn on the music where it is initially off. the setting is also remembered through cookies between pages and between visits. my thought with smoothsurface was different. i wanted it to be there, hopefully the sounds were not intrusive, and yes, there is no music off button.

again, thank you for the award. my hosting experience with Lunarpages has so far been fantastic. keep up the great work.
