has anyone had much luck marketing through either of these. I have had a bit of luck on Facebook although I suspect I am still not tapping it to the fullest. and frankly Myspace gives me a headache to look it, but I should be doing more there. Any ideas, experience?

I am a big believer in having a presence in every place you can as far as marketing goes. I plug my own projects on both my Facebook account and MySpace account. Actually using something like a "Add to MySpace" or "Add to Facebook" bookmarklet would be the easiest way because then all you'd have to do is click a bookmark, fill in the boxes and your good to go. Hope that helps some!

I have much more luck with myspace. Marketing yes, but even staight-up advertising at myspace yields better results.

Facebook, which has close to 170 million users worldwide, is difficult to ignore as a marketing channel. Marketing to MySpace and Facebook isn’t easy, especially if you plan on actively engaging your target demo as opposed to banners and PPC ads, but the wider idea that the older generation are flocking to online networking is increasingly important to consider when putting together your social media marketing strategy, especially if you’re in an industry where your competitors are still using traditional media.

Facebook has been extremely effective for me.Quality targeted traffic is also very important, because you will have more loyal users, get higher conversion rate, at the end better ROI.

Great too to use is https://posterous.com/ it allows you to crate your own publishing network. Just by sending one email you can spread a single article to multiple sites at once (facebook, twitter, livejournal, tumbler, blogger and so on...) Check it out it's free!

Marketing through all available means is your bests bet, regardless of traffic gained. Even if you don't gain much from Myspace or Facebook, it's still worth your time to do it.
