WordPress is my favorite CMS because it has lots of web design features. WordPress is best platform to create eye-catching and professional website because it is better software compared to other similar software. It has number of plug-ins which will help to create search engine friendly websites. It is open source and easily available on the web.

Wordpress is becoming a favorite for "lightweight" Content Management, because of its simplicity. WP started out as strictly for blogging, but enough capability has been added to it to handle many CMS tasks.

Joomla is another popular CMS. It has a steeper learning curve than WP, but is more capable. Many of the best contributions to Joomla are not free, unfortunately, and the free ones have something of a reputation for being rather limited in scope.

Drupal is often considered the most capable CMS (in flexibility and power), with a huge variety of free contributions. Unfortunately, it has the steepest learning curve of the CMSs listed here. Be prepared to spend a LOT of time coming up to speed on Drupal.

There are many other CMSs available, but the three listed here have the majority of the market.

Magento open source CMS platform offers increased control in terms of merchandising to promotion and much more. CMS is very much essential in today’s competitive world because the owners can have control over the quality and security they are offering on the site and thereby reduce the costs too.

Thanks

Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal are the most popular CMS platforms. My choice is Drupal. Although drupal is complex and has steep learning curve, we can develop the websites as we want , it offers much flexibility than others. If a website becomes complex with lots of inter relations between objects and page views that depends on calculations and processing lot of information then drupal is the best choice.

@pavel, Magento is a shopping cart system, not a CMS. Get your facts straight.

My favourite CMS is Joomla as it provides a simpler way to develop PHP websites with good efficiency.
