I've used both for a while and after a long test I notice that the fewest bugs was in phpnuke. There are also alot of "plugins" you can use.

-Ask-Me-, do you know of any sites that have themes for php nuke?

I found several that I liked for post nuke, and the selection on phpnuke.org wasn't that abundant.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Oh... What version do you recomend for php nuke, and do they incorporate an installer now?

there are many Content Management Systems to choose from.
i have used several of them.
phpnuke is, in my opinion, bloated and can be hard to configure.
postnuke is better that phpnuke.
there is a new one on the block that is lean and fast, and is simple to configure to your liking. there are new 'plugins' being added constantly.
e107 can be found  here , and works beautifully running on venus.
