$2.99 Domain Questions
« on: July 16, 2006, 04:32:23 PM »
Hi,

I started hosting with Lunarpages about a month ago.  I currently have three domains -- one hosted and two parked.  All three domains are managed through Network Solutions.  That is, I do not have a "free domain for life" domain on my account right now.

I am interested in getting information on what my options are with these three domains.  I like the idea of saving some money but I enjoy the level of control and management I have with Network Solutions as my registrar.

So, my questions are...

1.  Once transferred away from Network Solutions, am I able to manage my domains?  Who is the registrar?
2.  What are my options with LP regarding the transfer of my three existing domains?  Would my main domain be the "free for life" domain and the other two parked domains would be $2.99/year each?  Or, since the two parked domains are not new, would they be $14.95/year each?

Is there anything I'm missing here?

Thanks!

-Steve

Hello:
The domain registrar is Tucows and can be managed via https://manage.opensrs.net/ or via the CAP located at https://account.lunarpages.com

You can transfer all of your domains over to Lunarpages and would end up paying $2.99 a year for 2 of the domains while 1 of the domains will be free. You can pick which one you can pay for and which one you want to have as the free domain for life.

The $2.99 domain offer only applies to new domain registrations.

I hope this helps.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the quick reply and wow, that's hard to pass up.  You are positive on the additional two domains being $2.99/year?  The only reason I ask is because of this thread...

http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=33775.0

And on the main page (http://www.lunarpages.com/index_299.php), it asks...

What if I am an existing customer paying for an additional domain, and I would like to make this my $2.99 domain name?

and answers...

Our existing customers can purchase up to 3 domains at $2.99 each during our special offer (up to January 1st 2007), and renew these at $2.99 per year for as long as you are hosted with us! Unfortunately we are unable to offer you the $2.99 price on any domains you currently own.

Additionally, would the two additional domains remain at $2.99/year as long as I am hosting the account at Lunarpages?

Hello:
Sorry about that. I confirmed that it is only available to new domain registrations unfortunately. If you register 2 new domains while the offer is currently available and you're still a Lunarpages customer, the renewal will stay at $2.99.

I hope this helps.

OK, would my main domain would be the "free for life" one?  How much would the additional two be if I transferred them?

Hello:
Yes, you can have your main domain as the free on for life. The other two would be charged at the standard rate of $14.95 per year.

I hope this helps.
