Title: New to Website creation
Post by: chanaelw on August 28, 2007, 12:33:54 PM
I am complete new to website development and thoroughly confused by all of the jargon so I have a few questions before I sign-up.

1. How easy will it be for me to create a functional site -(like using the visual coffe cup editor)??

2. I am in real estate and one of my main goals is to be able to track leads through forms.  Is the data from the forms stored in a manner that is easy to convert to an excel or access file or some similar database (that would allow me to create postal mailings in the future) or is it just sent via email?

3.Add- on Domains are free from a hosting perspective but I need to pay the 9.95 to register the names??

Thanks,
Chanael

Hello Chanael, thanks for your interest in Lunarpages!  Hope to see you joining up with us soon.

I think it is pretty easy to use the CoffeeCup tools to create a web site - but as far as how easy, that might depend on the kind of web site you would like to make. :)  With exporting data to other methods, this would depend on the content gathering method that you would use.  Could you give us an example if you could of what you would like to create and I am sure our forum members here would be more than happy to give you some suggestions.

Also yes, with the Basic and Business plans you get the ability to host up to 10 addon domains for free - but that does not count the cost for registering the domain names.  Hope that helps and if you have any other question please feel free to shoot them our way.

I would collect infomation from visitors to the website using forms with open text areas and drop down menus.  It would be a lot of name and contact information as well as info about their homes, number of rooms, price...

That should be pretty easy enough to do with some sort of survey script.  Don't know of a good one right off the top of my head - but you might try searching for "survey scripts" over at HotScripts.com (http://www.hotscripts.com).  I think I remember seeing a few over there.

Hi, I am fairly new here myself at lunarpages and hope to become a member here in the near future, but as to your question about the real estate business your in might i ask exactly what you need it for because there are lots of real estate scripts out there you can d/l and then upload to you lunarpages account without you having to build it. I have currently 2 sites on the go right now but the host I am using has takin away the mysql ability and I now have to resort to flat file scripts designed from php coding, which might I add I have never heard of till they had done that but anyway, if you are looking for something like a survey type of script go here <<spam link removed>> and d/l the program and install it on your account if not then sorry I need more to as what you are going to be doing as in tracking leads?
