Hello. With my present web hoster, I've been having problems with emails sent to international addresses. I would like to know how you handle black lists and other email filtering schemes that may prevent emails from getting through to their intended destination.

In addition, should I choose to switch services, how fast can you have the process complete as I cannot be offline from email.

Thanks!

If you send an e-mail and it can't be delivered,  you will get an e-mail back telling you that it has been bounced.

Lunarpages servers are not blacklisted, and in the unlikely event that they were, they would be unblocked very quickly.

Incoming e-mail is not filtered, unless you want it to be.

You can setup mail accounts on lunarpages, then transfer the name across. This will minimise the downtime.

As the domain starts stopping resolving to your old server, it will start pointing to your new account at lunarpages. You may get e-mails coming to both accounts for a while.

Hello

So I am to understand that there will be no issues in delivering emails with a .jp or .il? Are your servers configured with ESMTP?

What Web mail service do you use?

There should be no problems sending any email to any other valid address. If the address is invalid, you wont be able to send to it from any email address!

.ip .jp .ca .co.nz etc.. all work!

Neomail and Horde as installed by default for you to choose from as your webmail agent.

STMP requires authorization based on your username and password to prevent spam, and relaying (which means lunarpages will not get black listed!)

Hope that helps!

There shouldn't be a problem delivering to those countries.

The servers have ESMTP.

Neomail and Horde are provided, but you could install any other webmail software, if you wanted to.

Thanks for all the info.

A few more questions:

1) What do I have to do in order to transfer the domain name (with the email addresses) from my old ISP to here? Is there someone who can assist me with the transfer? I have no clue how to get that done

2) Are there any size restrictions to the number or amount of mail stored on the system? (i.e. will the mail get deleted if its really old)

Thanks!

Hi,

The transfer of your domain depends on what type it is.

If it is a .com, .net, .info, .org, you can get it totally moved over to lunarpages. This will be $14.95 per year. It is easier, and you will only recieve 1 bill from lunarpages, instead of 2, from 2 different companies.

If it is a .co.uk or you do not want to move the domain across, you can just contact your existing domain registrar, and tell them to use the lunarpages nameservers for your domain.

They are listed on the FAQ page of www.lunarpages.com along with instructions on how to transfer from several popular domain registration companies.

If you need more help, just ask, there are lots of people here who have done the same thing before.

The amount of space taken up by your e-mail, is taken out of your webhosting space. e.g. if you are on the standard plan, you would have 500Mb of space, shared between e-mail and webpages.

Mail will not get deleted if it is really old. It's up to you if you want to delete it or not.

You can set a limit on how much space gets used up for each e-mail address on your account in the control panel.

There is a 10Mb limit on e-mail attachments .

Hope that helps

Hello

Just about made my decision....

Last set of questions... I hope.

1) If I do decide to make the switch in ISPs, what do I do first? I presume I sign up for an account here at Lunarpages and then go to the register to have them point it to here?

2) After the account is set up, is that when I set up my email? (As email is the sole reason for the move out of my old ISP)

3) Is there someone who can give me a checklist of items that I need to do to move from one ISP to another and get everything (email, web site, etc) established here at Lunarpages?

4) What is this cost for moving the domain? my domain is a .com. Are you referring to the Domain name registration?

Thanks again!

Your best bet is to begin by getting your account with Lunar.  Then go to your domain registrar and put in a nameserver modification so that your domain will point to Lunar's nameservers.  The nameserver addresses are in the faq, but should be:
NS1.DYNAMICNAME.COM
NS2.DYNAMICNAME.COM
But be sure to check and be sure.
Email support@lunarpages.com with your account and your domain letting them know you've put in a nameserver modification to Lunar's NS.

See if your old isp or your registrar can catch emails while the domain is transferring.  I think it's a matter of delaying the MX records, but I'm not sure.

Set up your default account at first as an email you have (not on your domain) where all email routed to your domain can be forwarded.

Now once your domain "arrives" just start setting up your email accounts.
