First off, I am a web hosting newbie, and need things explained simply in plain english.
I have had a disastrous experience with a web hosting service, and need a new one. However, I need a service with the following support (this is copied and pasted from their site):
- ColdFusion MX support -.NET Support -ASP Support -XML Support -SSL Capable - ASP, SSI, PHP, XML, Perl, private CGI-BIN, Access, and Fox Pro support - Access to common ASP components such as ASPMail, ASPUpload, ASPJpeg, JMail, CDONTS, etc.(see below) - FTP Access
I could not even tell you whether I need a Windows or Unix to have these features, but I suspect it is Windows.
What is the least expensive plan at lunar that can provide these features/setups? Basically, I have a couple of demo sites using .asp and .cfm script with a tiny MS Access database. The site is for my design portfolio.
Am I in the right place? Or what is the best, most reliable, most supportive web hosting service for a newbie that can provide these features?
Please let me hear from you soon. My site is down, and I have to get it back up asap.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response.
Why not cold fusion markup? Please explain.
What about .asp scripting? I'm not a web hosting guru, or a programmer, or an IT geek. Please, keep it simple.
I have .asp script running a teeny MS Access database, a demo site. That's the main thing right now.
The other site, albeit with criminal customer support, had all of these things. What's lunar getting all the reviews for if it can't compete with this other (&%#^@%!&@#$!&*! web hosting service?

Due to licensing costs, we do not currently support ColdFusion. It's a possiblity in the future, but as of now we can not support it without raising our prices, which we'd rather avoid.
Yes we support ASP and ASP.net 1.1, 2.0, 3.5, and 4.0.
The following describes how you can use an MS Access database with our windows hosting plan on Plesk.
Please note, you must have the database created locally (on your end) and we do not offer any management tools for access dbs at this time.
To use a Microsoft Access Database (.mdb file):
1. You will need to create a folder within your httpdocs folder. 2. Give this folder full write permissions using the file manager. (the padlock icon next to the folder that was created will allow you to set the permissions).
Hint: If you do not set write permissions, the database can not be written to and can not generate a temp file (in the same folder as the database) required for an Access database to function correctly.
3. Once the database has been uploaded, an ODBC connection to the database must be setup to connect to it. a. Click ODBC Settings icon in Plesk for the domain. b. Next, click "Add New ODBC DSN"; c. Give the connection a name. d. Select the driver as "Microsoft Access Database (.mdb)" and click ok. e. In the field [DBQ] DB File Path *, enter the path to the database file.
e.g. C:\Inetpub\vhosts\yourdomain.com\httpdocs\folderyourcreated\database.mdb - Replace 'yourdomain.com' with the domain name. - Replace 'folderyourcreated', with the folder you created in step 1. - Replace 'database.mdf' with the name of the database file. - Leave all the other settings as default.
Next, click test connection. If the connection is successful, then click next and then ok. If the connection is unsuccessful, please ensure the server path to the database is correct.

W o n d e r f u l !
Thank you for that, step by step, really really good of you ;-)
I take it "Plesk" is the control console at lunar? Can this .asp/Access demo site work with any of the lunar plans? Like the basic cheapee plan?
I have a second web hosting service running the .cfm (*edited*) and they are about as inexpensive as I've seen anywhere, so I don't know about that rationale for not supporting it at lunar. However, their customer service is dismal, and as much as I'd really like to have everything under one roof so to speak, I am reluctant to have it under THAT roof.
The "criminal" service is *edited*, which is really run by ripoff artists, and that's where I had the .asp demo that now needs a new home.
I trust I can get some more help if I run into a problem setting up the .asp on lunar? It may be some time before I can get to that. Have to get the domain switched and get my head back into dealing with this stuff. How do I get the domain switched to lunar?
Thanks again for your generous help.
Steven

If this is just a "teeny demo site", now is a good time to step back and ask if you really want to put up a site heavily dependent on all those Microsoft products. Or, would you be better off with a site written in PHP and MySQL, which are free themselves and have many free tools available. I get the feeling that you didn't write this demo site -- that someone wrote it for you, someone who happens to be an MS fanboy.
If you had a major site already up and running with ASP and all these requirements, and had already invested a lot of time and energy getting it running, I could understand wanting to stay with that technology. However, if you're just starting out, and are free to change, please consider using Open Source products (free) on an inexpensive basic plan. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish with your site, a standard CMS such as Drupal, Joomla, or even Wordpress may fit your needs perfectly. If you don't mind, perhaps you could share with us what you basically intend for your site to do? Someone might be able to suggest some viable inexpensive alternatives to what you're doing.

Thanks, but please stay with questions asked.
I did do it myself, with Dreamweaver, and even with that it was an extreme headache and effort which I have neither time nor inclination to repeat with PHP. Also, as noted, it is a portfolio site, i.e. for jobs, and there's an awful lot of MS fanboys among employers. I wouldn't bother with windows hosting at all if .asp were not a windows technology, why would anyone?
Ditto MySQL is also a learning curve I have neither time nor inclination to undertake.
