Hello,
My website is cuurently being hosted by another company,Feature Price. I have been able to access my site/control panel about 1 time in the past week. :x
I am seriously considering moving my site to Lunarpages. I have most of my files on my harddrive, but there are a few I might need at current host. My question is, can I go ahead and change to the Lunar nameservers and have my domain name direct my visitors to my possible new site at Lunar, even though my account is still active at my current host??
Thanks!!!!

Think of your domain name as a pointer to where your website is stored. Right now its pointing at your site on the non-lunarpages account. You can built a lunarpages site and do whatever to it. As soon as you want people to see it, you just switch over your domain name to point to your lunarpages site.

The three things are 3 speerate companies. Lunar pages, your old host, and the domain registrar. They are all seperate, and they can't force you to not change somethign at another company. So you can easily switch over your DNS no matter who your registered your domain with.

So as Charles said: Yes you can. Just set things up here at lunarpages, and switch it over when your satisfied its the way you want it!

I'm also bailing on Feature Price.  The problem is...when I do a whois for my site 1stmg.net it says that they are the domain owners.  I thought I was.  What should I do?

I did a whois on your domain.

I won't post the results here because it's got your information in it.

It said "This domain is owned by a FeaturePrice.Com Customer."

I think you should contact them and ask them to release it. We can host it for you and register it for you for $14.95 a month.

erm, yeah.

Sorry about that. $14.95 a month would be a bit expensive!

It is $14.95 a year.

I'm also a former FeaturePrice victim. You can change the contact information for your domain yourself ....that is, if the FP helpdesk happens to be up. ..

Log into the FP helpdesk. In the header there is a link "domain manager". That will bring you to a screen where you can change all the contact information, name of domain owner etc. for your domain to yourself. The changes will show up in "Whois" immediately and you'll be able to transfer your domain. Worked without any problems for me.
