OK, I already have a domain, which I'd want to "move". However, before changing DNS, I'd want to upload the existing site and make sure it was all working. So, ideally, I'd want a lunarpages subdomain to check it all out before moving.

It's been suggested that I may have to buy a domain name just to start the lunarpages account, which I'd then basically throw away.

Domain/subdomain?

Hello,

When you sign up for your lunarpages account, you will be given a temporary url.

This will be something like:

http://galaxy.lunarpages.com/~username

When your domain gets transferred, that address will disappear and be replaced by your domain.

It's good for testing, although some features, such as JSP (if you get it) will not work with the temporary url.

Depending on how your site is setup, you should be able to view it all before it becomes active. If you desperatly need a domain to try it with, you could consider first signing up with a username.lunarpages.com/ address and then moving over to the domain.

You will be able to access your website using another address before it becomes active. For example, my URL before my DNS moves over is:

http://galaxy.lunargpages.com/~username/
I can view the entire site through there, as I upload it.

Another option is to use a 3rd party direction service for a temporary domain.

No-Ip Is one that I have used in the past.

Hope that helps!
