I'm in the planning stages for a future website, and this website could *potentially* get into several terabytes of data per month, if things go well of course. I've looked over the dedicated server plans and the maximum I'm seeing is 2 terabytes monthly bandwidth, with the option of paying "$0.60 / month per 1 GB" over that limit, which can be very expensive if my site... theoretically went up to say, 25-50+ terabytes per month or more.

So I'm wondering if there is a "unmetered bandwidth" option? If so, how much? A ballpark figure would be fine for the time being.

The basic plan offers unmetered ... but if your site generates 20 - 25 TB of data each month than i don't think the Basic Plan is for you ( it must use a lot of CPU )

I originally wrote that I was talking about Unmetered, not Unlimited, but I didn't include it since I thought it was pretty much self explanatory. Ya, there isn't a way I could go with shared hosting with that (aka the Basic Plan, etc). Very Happy

If you are that concerned, you can buy additional bandwidth for your server. Buying pre-allocated bandwidth is cheaper than emergency bandwidth, so I would look at any current usage statistics and go from there.

I mentioned that in my first post, but it would get very expensive. Basically, what I'm doing is looking at the "what if" scenario due to having a video hosting site. If it were to become popular and consume several terabytes per month, how much would that be in total billing? Say for example, I had 25 terabytes used per month, and if I had the 2,500 gb plan, that is 2.5 terabytes + the 22.5 extra terabytes of usage.

I'm just trying to play it safe and looking ahead, since I know that video hosting sites can be bandwidth hogs. So if my math is right, it's about $600 per extra terabyte? So if I hypothetically needed 22.5 more terabytes to cover that scenario, that would be $13,500?

This is a good idea.

As far as I know, we don't offer any sort of unmetered bandwidth option for dedicated servers. Shared accounts, yes, they get this (it has to be site-related content being sent out, though). You might want to contact the sales department to see if you can get some kind of bulk deal. In my experiences, buying bulk amounts usually gets you a discount, so you don't pay full price.
