I notice the Drupal logo on the hosting plans pages, are there servers that have Drupal available in their CPanel / LPPanel?

Thank you.

cPanel (Fantastico installer) servers do not offer Drupal. I don't know about LPCP servers. Simply download the installation package from drupal.org and install it yourself.

I know it can be used by dl/ul/install, but with the graphic being used I would assume that it is something supported by LP as opposed to something that just works on LP.

I can only speak for cPanel (older servers) -- perhaps they're all offered with LPCP for new accounts? With cPanel, LP has no choice of what comes with Fantastico. Fantastico makes their own choices, cPanel bundles Fantastico, and LP buys cPanel. All of those logoed products run on LP servers, if that's what you mean by "support", but not all of them (e.g., Drupal) are offered as "one-button" installs. BTW, LP doesn't really "support" any of them, in the sense of fixing your problems with an application (unless it's a server configuration problem). They'll just point you to this forum or to the product support forum. So the reading of "just works on LP" is probably closer to the truth.

My experience with canned offerings (like Fantastico) is that they tend to be a little behind on versions (at a minimum, the delay between Fantastico incorporating the latest version and LP eventually installing a cPanel update), or they add in all sorts of junk you may not want (examples: BuySafe on osCommerce, every language pack on SMF). You're usually better off anyway doing a manual install with the very latest version from the application's own repository -- a bit more work, but you've got the latest and greatest, without any extras you don't want.

And what's wrong with that?

I think cheap hosting, like with Lunar, comes with enough support. If you want hand holding then you should get a managed solution. All in all you can use up your whole years hosting amount with one or two support tickets. Lunar has to pay these people and it takes a lot of $8.00 accounts to do so.

I'm talking in general and not the quoted author above.

I do think the people looking at cheap hosting should be able to do at least the basics themselves. If there is a server configuration error then it is Lunars problem but everything else should be the responsibility of the webmaster. Hence the name webmaster.... if you don't qualify as one then you need to hire one who is.

Just my opinion but I feel people are too fast to jump on the hosting company every time a little issue crops up. "Will run on  my server" is good enough for me, now the illness is on me to figure out how to install my desired product. If the server works the responsibility of Lunar ends.

(I asked LP to remove the quoted post, because the author simply copied verbatim my earlier post, in order to display his spammy signature block. Please don't give this plagiarist credit for my work.)

LP doesn't charge enough to provide detailed hand-holding for full support of Drupal, etc. They can't afford it. All they can do is provide working servers with certain levels of Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc. LP is responsible for making sure all the stuff they provide is working correctly. It's the customer's responsibility to make sure Drupal or whatever is working.

What is the dispute about?

Am I missing something here?  Confused

What post was removed? I didn't notice anything unusual in this topic.

Who plagiarized what?
What dispute, I only see a few friendly questions and responses?

Edit: See post below

Ahhh.... I see it now!!

shimeixiaoxiao actually copied almost word for word a portion of MrPhil's earlier post.

I too thought shimeixiaoxiao was the author of that post when it was actually MrPhil

So MrPhil wants shimeixiaoxiao's post removed due to the fact it was copied almost word for word.

Maybe it was meant to be a quote  Confused I guess we will have to wait for shimeixiaoxiao response to see.

If he had added material, I could excuse the missing [quote] tag. He didn't, so it's obvious he's just spammer vermin (his signature is spam -- it's a new spam method I'm seeing more and more of). LP should get on the ball and install the SMF mod to block links in signatures until you've made a minimum number of posts.

Drupal cms scripts are getting popular, and can be widely found at many corporate webiste and personal website. Use drupal, joomla, or mambo script to create website, setup new website in minutes of time, and use its CMS feature to manage the content for your website. Due to its increased popularity, lunarpages had previously reviewing few drupal web hosting plan & cpanel hosting plan, lunarpages had carried out drupal script installation and testing to review in more details.

Today, lunarpages is setting up drupal content management script at lunarpages shared hosting package, $4.95 per month php hosting plan with mysql database running cpanel control panel. lunarpages cpanel X with fantastico doesn’t have the drupal scripts for quick installation. You have to manually download drupal script, unzipped, and upload to lunarpage hosting for installation. These process took almost 5 minutes to 10 minutes to complete.

lunarpages manage to setup drupal default website at a testing subfolder. Managed to login drupal administration site, and configure up some running webpages, with module activated and tested as well. The drupal site is running smoothly as expected.

am i wrong but fantastico site seems to promote drupal as one of their auto scripts, but lp doesn't have a the new version to support this.  why is that?
Also its very upsetting that to get drupal auto script i would have to change servers deal with those issues..they should jst offer softalicous on the cpanel servers espcially since they offer lost more scripts.

I am not familiar with "auto script" (do you mean "one button install"?), but the newest Drupal (7) has been out for only a week or so. Fantastico will include it when they feel like it and release an updated bundle. cPanel will eventually get around to packaging the updated Fantastico. LP will some day upgrade to the newer cPanel. Then you will see Drupal 7 offered here. There's a whole chain of third party products involved and things don't happen overnight. If you want Drupal 7 badly, simply go to their site and get the install zip file and install it manually. No one says you have to install products through Fantastico.

What good is saying if you did not post where we can find it?

It would help you know.
