so if I already have the domain, but want to use it now as my free domain...who actually owns the domains? I don't want to loose the ownership of my domain that I have now for 8 years or so

Hey there TrailChic ! YOU will always own your domain name regardless of which registrar you pay for it. Free for life,,,, that has a good ring to it huh ??

Hey Rat!! how you doing? Good to know! I just receive a pretty nasty email from my old host...they are SOOO mad at me for canceling...not even going to say what all came up. I feel like I've cheated on my boyfriend and now have to explain myself... dang, never thought a hosting company would love me that much. wouldn't surprise me if they check this forum too. LOL

Hey TrailChic, I am doing fine thanks for asking, just wishing i was out on the trail right now, only there is alot of snow there at the moment but that would be better than here !
Dont feel guilty about cancelling on your host, now if ya cheat on your b/f that's a whole nother story lol, LP is the only place to be, none can compare !!
If they check this forum, then they will see why you left them in the first place !!!
Hope it all works out for you, I am sure it will. Happy Trails.

So how does that work? Is Enom the registrar? I get access to the Enom account and LP pays the bill?
Don't forget your snowshoes Rat. We definitely need them out here.

Hey...were you guys going? I have snoeshoes and haven't tried them yet. LOL bought them for the dacks, and didn't need them. all the other trails aren't snowy enough or too rocky for snowshoes.

Enom is a registrar, yes. But I think to get the free domain it has to be moved to LP, I`m not sure how that works. Either way LP takes care of it. I dont have any snowshoes But wishing I was on the trail anyway. Even postholing thru deep snow would beat being here ! Mtn. RAT

I was under the impression that Lunar Pages used Enom but perhaps I'm wrong.
You can posthole up to your waist out here (Colorado Rockies) and not hit bottom. Man, does that wear you out!

Hi there We do not use Enom, but Tucows. Like Rat stated in his first response, you own the Domain, even if you use our Free Domain offer

Boy what a blast from the past. This topic is irrelevant now because the domain name is only free for one year. I still have one of the life time free ones and I can vouch for the fact that I can log in and make any changes I want. Just keep in mind new plans (basic) now only have the first year of the domain paid.

7 Ways to Use Your Free For Life Domain Posted: August 6, 2007 - Domain Names, Fluff, Jabber, Mitch Keeler
Author: Mitch Keeler
Lunarpages provides their Basic hosting plan customers with one free domain name for life. All annual plans include a domain name for FREE! It will be free for as long as you host with Lunarpages. The domain is registered in your name, you own it and have complete control over it.
1. You could register your primary domain name in another domain name extension. Lunarpages can register .com, .org, .name, .us, .biz, .info, .net, .ca and .co.uk domain names.
2. Have a child? It is never too early to register their name as a domain name. It might be taken up soon and if they want it later on in life – they will thank you for registering it early.
3. You could use the extra free domain name registration to start up your Golden Girls fan site. Ok, this might not be a dream that everybody has had – but that Betty White is just so darn adorable for a senior citizen, don’t you agree?
4. You need a blog. Everybody else has one – and did I mention that Lunarpages makes a fine home for WordPress installs? That could be yet another good project to use your free domain for life on.
5. Well we talked about childrens’ names, but what about yours? Is it registered already? If not – this would be a good reason and chance to pick it up for nothing.
6. You can transfer a domain name over from another domain name register as well. If you have your favorite domain somewhere else, just pay $9.95 to move it over and we can set it up as your free domain name for life.
7. Register a domain name for your Lunarpages fan site. With all the goodies you get with Lunarpages its hard not to love us. Just make sure you don’t make it a Golden Girls and Lunarpages fan site – that would just be a little on the creepy side.
So there you have a few ideas to get you started. Now I have one more helpful tip to pass along your way about Lunarpages and the free domains for life. Did you know that Business hosting plan customers get four of them?

Please note that that article was put up on August 6, 2007 , and that the free domain policy changed in 2010.
Those who already had a free domain for life domain on their accounts will still have it, however new registrations and transfers are only allowed 1 year free, one per account (basic plan, business plans get 3) and must be used within the first 30 days of account setup.
