Hi, I've been searching for a host and the right type of plan for my website and I was wondering if I could get your thoughts. I was thinking of going with the business hosting plan.

I am running a primarily e-commerce website. I will have a shopping cart, a customer login and I will be sending and receiving a lot of emails and files.

Could a business hosting plan handle all that, or will I need to purchase VPS hosting? Also, I am really terrible with technical stuff, but I really want to add some applications, such as a guestbook, form mail script and forum. Will there be an easy to use control panel where I can install these apps?

One last thing, since a dedicated IP address is marked as available, does that mean I will have to pay extra for this if I go with the business plan?

Thank you very much for your help  Happy Happy Joy Joy

Hi,

Based on the some of the information you posted you may be able to run this on a Basic Plan.

You mentioned "I will be sending and receiving a lot of emails and files". Depending on how many emails you will be sending in batches you may run up against the shared account email sending limits  ([See: http://wiki.lunarpages.com/E-mail_Sending_Limits ]. IF you will be exceeding these limits, you would then be looking at needing a  VPS or Dedicated Plan. However, if your scripts can be throttled to send mass emails over a longer time frame (throttling), the Basic/Business Plan should be able to handle it.

Regarding the Dedicated IP. This comes with the Business Plan at no extra cost (although you do have to request it, it is not automatically set up on the account).

I hope this is helpful.

Basic Plan may serve your purpose. Basic Hosting is the most popular plan, and an excellent option for small to medium-sized business sites, blogs and web projects.
E-mail
Includes unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited e-mail forwarding, unlimited auto responders, webmail, mailing list, spam protection, catch-all address, POP3, IMAP and SMTP support.
