Hi, I currently own two domains, one of which is an fairly active (but relatively small) message board, and one is basically a placeholder for e-mail. I currently have a reseller account at another host I'm totally dissatisfied with... hence the move.

I'd probably like to buy two 'Standard Plans' for my two domains (ironically this works out cheaper than my previous hosting... nice one LP!). Will this cause any trouble if they have the same name/address/billing associated with them? I wouldn't think so but would like to confirm it...

That said, it'd be cheaper to park an extra domain with you. Like I said, I only really use it for e-mail and hosting one or two bits and bobs that could be moved to my primary domain. Could you explain the whole parking and folders thing, since I didn't really get it Wink

Second, I will almost certainly get one of my domains enabled for JSP/Servlets, as it would be a useful testing ground for my projects. I wondered, does Lunarpages mind the use of Java Threads in a Servlet that will run in the background at all times? How about sockets? If I were to upload a servlet that connected to a specific IRC channel to collect data, for example, would this be permitted on your servers?

My forum currently runs phpBB, but I'm considering switching to a Java-based message board. I'm not sure how CPU-intensive it is, but if it's within your acceptable limits is this okay?

I will probably still move to Lunar even if it's not permitted, since my current host doesn't support Servlets whatsoever, but just wanted to know since enabling JSP is so cheap Smile

Last but not least I'm in the UK, but since you seem to have a UK telephone number I assume you're geared up to take orders from people on this side of the pond...

Thanks in advance for your answers,
  Future Customer Wink

Hi,

You can buy two standard plans if you like, or just buy one standard plan, and use both domains with it.

Normally you would have 1 account, with 1 domain pointing to one website.

You can add an extra domain for free, if it is pointing to the same website as your first domain.

If you want to add a domain and have it pointing to a different directory, it is $2.50 per month. The visitors wouldn't know that it was an add-on domain, they would still see the correct address at the top of their browsers.

To have your domains registered on lunarpages, by lunarpages, is $14.95. If you have your domain registered by another company, it can still be used with your lunarpages account, all you need to do is change the nameservers for the domain, through the company you registered it with. You can get instructions here http://www.lunarpages.com/faq/changedomain.html

JSP is $2 per month. We don't allow backround processes, or sockets.

Your servlet would be allowed to connect to an irc channel, as long as it didn't adversly affect the servers. If it was very resource intensive, then you could have your account suspended, if it was an extremely serious case.

It's more likely you would be asked to change or delete the script.

Nothing is allowed to run in the background however.

Your phpbb forum would be recommended, a JSP message board would be ok, as long as it's in our limits.

We can accept orders from anywhere in the world. You will be called to activate your account, this will be from Los Angeles. It is no problem though, we have lots of UK customers. I am from the UK aswell Smile

Thanks for the response. I pretty much expected those answers on the Servlet issue! Will sign up as soon as the new credit card arrives Smile

The only restrictions are that nothing can run in the background on any of the servers, and anything that messes up the servers for other people is not allowed.
