Hmm - have been testing a little tonight. The speed downloading these files alle end up around 200KB/sec. I've also tested with FTP to my shared hosting on LP, also ends up with around 200KB/sec. I compared to another of my hosts located in Oslo - measures 1200KB/sec - proves that my ISP should be fine Smile
As I'm located in Norway - could that be the problem for the low downloadspeed from LP?

Thanks
Roald

Easily. Given the sheer number of hops you'd have to travel through, the overall speed would decrease. This is why large download sites have mirrors for multiple locations so you can get the fastest speed by going to a server nearest you.

The 10MB file averaged about 320k/sec to Sydney Australia, via Optus Cable

Agreed! This would be great to be able to test my connection speed to Lunarpages. I can test my connection speed to other servers out there, but not directly to you guys!

Can we get this tool back?

Accessing speed is always one of the concerns in picking web hosting. This is because the faster the speed the faster your website loads thus providing a better experience to your visitors. The accessing speed also does somehow reflect the quality of technology being used in the server. This is because a more accurate data transfer will result in lesser re-transfer and thus quicker speed.
