Would I be able to setup a remote connection to the MySQL database through Dreamweaver?  This is a security problem for my current web hosting company, and is not allowed.

You can access mySQL databases on lunarpages remotely. All you need to do is enable it in the control panel. You add IP addresses allowed to connect, or % which means any ip can connect.
