OK, you guys all use lunarpages for your hosting. I currently don't. However, I've outgrown my current hosting provider (********) and my existing contract runs out in under 3 months, so it's time to move.

I have become accustomed to great, friendly service and would like that to continue. So far I've shortlisted 3 companies which look good - lunarpages.com, the other hosting company.com and the other hosting company.co.uk - the question is which do I go for?

Lunarpages!

Lunarpages has the best technical support, and the best features.

Of course, I am biased, but I am also right!

You are asking a question in a place where you will only get one answer even if you ask us to pick 1 from 1000000000000000000000000 because in here we are ALL LUNARPAGES FANS!   "[Big

So.. you want an unbiased opinion?

I just went through that whole process over the last few months. I personally was set on the other hosting company hosting. I had more or less memorized their entire site from looking into all the details! I had one requirement that was goign to determine which host I went to (email piping). I emailied both lunarweb and the other hosting company about my question. I got an almost instant and not automatic reply from lunarweb! They answered all the questions I threw at them! If the answer wasn't so obvious, I would get a message saying that they didn't know but knew someone who did.. and the tech guy would email me back within an hour or so. This overwhelming service is what convinced me (someone who almost never uses the customer support lines) to switch my mind! I'm on my way to signup after I finish this post!

Thats my opinion so far!...and still unbiased ;-)

Your question is a double-edged sword on this forum.  Obviously, if you ask us out here, we will most likely support our host.

Okay, okay... I've been with Lunar for a little over 3 months now and you want to know what kind of problems I've had

NONE

YUP NONE.

I have moved my website 7, YES 7 times and I have to say that these guys are the best I have ever delt with.

Great support, fast replies, reliable service.

But again, I'm biased, because I use them.    "[Razz]"

There's a lot of hosting companies out there.  By now most of the 'men' have been separated from the 'boys'.

Can you build a better mouse trap?  Probably.  You want to take the time to find one, or build one?  Or do you want to just go with one that you know works damn well, and get on with it?

Hey all, thanks for the responses, especially Kata's and Tiger's. One piece of advice I follow is to always email the provider and ask a question, even a dumb one (maybe especially a dumb one). Then wait to to see if and when it gets answered.

My current hosting provider answers even dumb questions politely and quickly - usually within 30 minutes.

the other hosting company.co.uk answered my dumb question after 3 days.

the other hosting company.com have not yet answered my not dumb question (I can't complete their registration form, because it doesn't allow a UK postal code). It's only been 24 hours though  "[eyeroll]"

lunarpages answered my dumb question within an hour and politely too.

Another thing I look for is a message board hosted by the provider with an active and friendly user community. My current provider has one. Lunarpages has one.

Hmmm. I seem to be talking myself into signing up.
