I need to create a simple 5 page site. The site will include the home page, a resume page, contact page and a place to store headshots and small videos.

I am not very knowledgeable in web design, so the Quicksite hosting plan seems to fit my needs. Most of the pages are self explanatory, but I have questions regarding the Gallery. Can I create an album in the gallery, one for the photos, and another for the videos? It looks like I can upload videos up to 50 mb, but can I store them in the gallery, or do I have to create a new page for the videos? I've played with the demo, but it's limited as you can't test out your own uploads with it until you buy.

Also, once the site is created, after my first year, should I decide to move to basic or business hosting, I understand I cannot "take" my site with me, as the templates are unique to Quicksite. So, I will have to continue to pay the higher monthly fee, even though my site has been created and running for a year?  It almost seems like LP sould charge a one time fee for a web creation editor, then let you use what you created on any of their plans, but this doesn't appear to be the case. I did look at PageMason software offered in Basic Hosting, but it's more limited than what's offered in Quicksite.

With this information, is Quicksite still the best for me?

Hmm I think I may have gotten the ticket you submitted in the helpdesk.(or else someone else asked same question)

The quicksite sites, from what I understand, rely on a separate system that is not actually installed on individual accounts, so although you may only create (for example) 5 pages, the templates and such are pulled from elsewhere.

What I would recommend in your case is probably go with the basic plan, use a basic web page editor to create most your pages, then use a gallery script (such as 4gallery if you choose cpanel hosting)  installed to a subfolder and link to the gallery script from your other pages.

Just to add to what Troy said, with the Basic Plan you would also have access to the PageMason webbuilder which you could use to create the base site and then still install a gallery to a subdomain/subfolder and link to it from the main site.

I'm not really familiar with website designing/creation. But in my point of view (I'm still a newbie to this topic) the Quicksite is more reliable. It may not be that friendly, but if it contains features that you would really benefit from, I think it is the better alternative.  Hiya Hiya Hiya

Very good initiative. It's possible to create album in gallery both for photos & videos. Actually I have not a good idea about quicksite. Trying to learn more about it. .

My choice would be Quicksite.
